힌두교의 신성한 갠지스 강을 따라 언덕 위에 만들어진 7km 길이의 가트Ghat (계단)는 2500년 역사를 가진 바라나시의 도시 풍경이며 주민들의 이동통로인 동시에 원도심과 밀접하게 관련된 활동이 이뤄지는 공공공간입니다. 3개월간의 몬순moonsoon기간에 불어나는 갠지스강과 각각의 건축이 가트 ghat의 성격을 규정하며 원도심 주민의 삶에 큰 영향을 줍니다. 인도의 국가정책인 '스마트 시티'정책의 일환으로 인도-프랑스 국제건축도시현장워크숍을 통해 공간과 주민활동의 관계와 건축형태로 구현되는 과정을 관찰하고 기록하였습니다.

Ghat (stairs), 7 km long, built on a hill along the sacred Ganges River of Hinduism, is a cityscape of Varanasi with a history of 2,500 years, and is a public space that is closely related to the city center as well as a route for residents. The Ganges River and the architecture of the three months of monsoon, which define the nature of the ghat, have a great influence on the life of the city center residents. As part of the 'Smart City' policy, which is the national policy of India, through the Indo-France international field workshop, the relationship between space and residents' activities and the process is observed, recorded and implemented in the form of architecture, as part of the ‘Smart city’ policy which is the national policy of India.
